VVS Laxman to replace Rahul Dravid as head coach for Australia’s tour of India 2023 – Reports

India’s former cricketer and aggressive batsman VVS Laxman has reportedly been appointed as an interim head coach for the team’s match T20 international series against Australia at five different venues in India after the conclusion of the ODI World Cup 2023. Australia’s tour of India saw a break as the team first played a three-match mini ODI series against India followed by the ODI World Cup and then the match T20 series. 

As per the reports, India’s head coach Rahul Dravid will be given a slight break after the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup 2023 and VVS Laxman will lead the team for the T20 series of Australia’s tour of India. As the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), VVS Laxman has always stood for the team whenever the squad and the management needed him and has always advised the players well considering his own experience as a star player of the Indian cricket team. 

“VVS Laxman has always been in charge when Rahul has taken a break and the same thing is likely to continue for the series just after the World Cup,” a close source of the Indian cricket board told PTI. 

According to the reports, after serving his whole term, Dravid is probably going to return to the IPL. Prior to joining the Rajasthan Royals, the former captain of the team coached the Delhi Capitals.

As per speculations, many star players of the team like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul might also be rested for the series for the preparation of the upcoming India score of South Africa where the team will play two test matches, 3 ODI and 3 T20I matches. Squad members of India’s tour of West Indies and Ireland as well as the Asian Games 2022 are expected to join the squad of the T20 series of Australia’s of India.
