The Bangalore franchise are gearing up for their first match of the Indian T20 League 2023 against Mumbai on April 2nd at the Chinnaswamy stadium. Before that, Bangalore welcomed a special guest to their camp. Indian football skipper Sunil Chhetrii visited Bangalore’s camp at Chinnaswamy and had interactions with the players.
Chettri shared some fun chats with Virat Kohli. Apart from that, he also asked some furious questions to batting coach Sanjay Bangar and pacer Hashal Patel. He also took part in Bangalore’s fielding practice session where he amazed everyone by taking some splendid catches. The 38-year-old was present there wearing a Bangalore jersey with his name on it.
Chhetri and Kohli share a great bond and the Indian footballer refers to Bangalore as his favourite Indian T20 League team. “Bangalore franchise is my favourite team and I am supporting Bangalore and added motivation with Virat Kohli,” Chettri said.
The video was shared by Bangalore’s social media account, where Sunil Chhetri was seen having a great time with the cricketers. Chhetri is also a part of Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League. He is one of the top footballers in the world. He comes fifth in the list of leading goal scorers in international football, with 85 goals, and third position in the list of active players with the most goals after Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Gujarat wins the season opener against Chennai
Coming to the Indian T20 League, the 16th edition of the tournament started with a bang as the defending champions Gujarat defeated Chennai in the first match of the season by 5 wickets. Chennai posted a total of 178 for the loss of 7 wickets, powered by the 92-run knock by Ruturaj Gaikwad off 50 balls with four fours and nine sixes. Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami and Alzarri Joseph scalped two wickets each.
Gujarat chased the winning total by losing 5 wickets in 19.2 overs as Shubman Gill scored 63 off 36 with six fours and three sixes. After that, Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia took Gujarat over the line to start the season with a win.
