‘Want to see your century in Pakistan’: PSL witness Virat Kohli’s popularity in Pakistan
Virat Kohli enjoys a massive fan following across the globe. However, his popularity in Pakistan is unmatched. The fans in the country has always admired Kohli and often extend their support to Kohli every time he struggles. Recently, in the ongoing PSL, a Virat Kohli fan was spotted holding a poster which read ‘I want to see your century in Pakistan’. Notably, Kohli has been struggling to hit centuries with his last century coming in 2019. India and Pakistan don’t play bilateral series thus the fans will have to wait for a while before Kohli touches the Pakistan shores. India last toured their neighboring country in July 2008 for the Asia Cup, one month before Kohli’s international debut against Sri Lanka.
In 2009, a terrorist attack on the Sri Lanka team in Pakistan meant that teams restricted themselves from visiting Pakistan. In the midst of these developments, Kohli went on to become one of the greatest batters of all time.

Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy in 2025. Pakistan hasn’t hosted an global tournament since 1996 when they were hosting the World Cup alongside India and Sri Lanka. Pakistan lost the 2008 Champions Trophy hosting rights due to poor security situation and had lost the 2011 World Cup hosting due to terrorist attack on Sri Lankan team in 2009. Virat Kohli might feature in the 2025 tournament in Indian colors and thus Kohli’s fans in Pakistan can see their dream come true. Meanwhile, Kohli is likely to miss the final T20I against West Indies and the following three match T20I series against Sri Lanka.
