Cricket Australia (CA) has announced the 16-man squad for the limited-overs leg of the upcoming tour of Pakistan. Few big-ticket players have been rested for the white-ball series. These players are already part of the preceding three-match Test series. The players who are rested from the three-match ODI series and solitary T20I are Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, and David Warner and Glenn Maxwell.

Players from the Test squad such as Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Cameron Green, Mitchell Marsh, Ashton Agar, Josh Inglis, and Alex Carey will continue to be part of the white-ball squad. Players such as Matthew Wade, Jhye Richardson, and Moises Henriques, who were part of the squad for the home series against Sri Lanka, have been excluded from the team.

The pace bowling trio – Starc, Hazlewood, and Cummins have been replaced by Sean Abbott, Jason Behrendorff, and Nathan Ellis. Meanwhile, National selector George Bailey has said that the team has been chosen keeping the 2023 World Cup in mind.

“There’s no doubt it’s been a pretty intense schedule the last six months and even if you look ahead the next 18 months so it’s about working with those individuals and the squad as a whole that you are trying to meet the needs of everything. This [squad] was a bit of a challenge,” Bailey said.
