The five-time world champions, Australia, have been gearing up for the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, Pat Cummins and Co. will be locking horns against the Men in Blue on October 8 in Chennai to commence their journey. Furthermore, the Aussies last won the ODI World Cup back in 2015. However, this time they are looking as the formidable side to lift the trophy owing to their vast experience on Indian soil conditions.
However, they have lost the five matches of the ODI series against South Africa by 2-3 ahead of the India series. Notably, this loss places them in the third spot. Following this loss, Pat Cummins and Co. yet again lost the three-match ODI series against Rohit Sharma and Co. by 2-1. Notably, their side was able to get a win in the third ODI, which took place on September 27 at Rajkot, which helped them avoid their whitewash against India.
Notably, the side has recently announced the final 15-member squad for the ODI World Cup, which marks notable omissions as well as surprise inclusions. In addition, star middle-order batter Travis Head is able to make his way after sustaining injuries during the South Africa tour, whereas Marnus Labuschagne replaces Ashton Agar as the latter has not fully recovered.
