Watch: David Warner’s incredible athleticism to save six against Sri Lanka
Australia and Sri Lanka locked horns in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 on October 25, Tuesday, and the former was in a must-win position after losing to New Zealand on Saturday. After forcing Sri Lanka to bat first, the Australian bowlers looked to get things under control early in the innings.
However, after Pat Cummins got the better of Kusal Mendis early in the innings for just 5 runs, the Sri Lankan batters Dhananjaya de Silva and Pathum Nissanka lifted the team and steadied the innings in the middle overs.
The moment of the first innings came in the 11th over when David Warner pulled off a stunner to save a six off Dhananjaya’s bat. The star player ran backwards and dived ahead near the boundary to stop the ball from going over. He then smartly threw the ball back into the field of play to save his team a few runs. However, the Australian veteran caught the eyes of the spectators yet again when he came up with an excellent catch to remove the batter in the next over off Ashton Agar.
At the end of 17 overs, Sri Lanka remained at 119/5, with Charith Asalanka and Wanindu Hasaranga on the field.

First and foremost we need to win this game: Mitchell Starc
Australia’s lead pacer Mitchell Starc, who emphasized the importance of the clash against Sri Lanka, said that the foremost task for the Kangaroos would be to win the match. Before the start of the match, the pacer said that the team management will go by its strength.
“We should be going back to our strengths. If and when we play New Zealand we will discuss a few things. Zampa is all right. We have four games in four different states in quick time. So just a precautionary thing. Gives Ashton a chance to play for Australia. Exciting back to be playing on a fast bouncy wicket. It is exciting to be back over here,” Starc said before the match.
“Hopefully it is fast and bouncy and not as docile as the SCG. We would want to get our campaign back on track. It is one game at a time, cliched asides. First and foremost we need to win this game. For us it is just about this fixture to get our campaign back on track,” said the pacer further.
