Watch: Emotional reunion for Faf du Plessis with his former teammates

Chennai will be taking on Bangalore in the 22^nd match of the Indian T20 League 2022. The rivalry between the two teams is a fabled one. The fans wait for this high-voltage encounter every season. Chennai has historically dominated the clash, but in Indian T20 League 2022 the two teams are having completely opposing runs. While Chennai has lost all their 4 matches in the tournament, Bangalore have won 3 of their 4 matches so far.

Bangalore will be hoping to prove history wrong and win the high voltage clash under the leadership of their new captain Faf du Plessis. Notably, Du Plessis had been a part of the Chennai team from 2012 till last season. However, Chennai decided not to retain Faf ahead of the 15^th edition of the tournament. They also did not go after him much desperately in the mega auction and Bangalore outbid other competitors and bought him for a sum of INR 7 Cr.

As Virat Kohli stepped down from the leadership role of the Bangalore team, they declared Faf du Plessis as their new leader ahead of Indian T20 League 2022. Du Plessis was an integral part of Chennai’s title-winning effort in 2021. So, the clash with his ex-franchise was bound to be an emotional affair for the South African.

In a video clip posted on the official Twitter page of Chennai, the now Bangalore skipper was seen reuniting with his former teammates. Faf met with the players as well as the support staffs of his former team. The love and camaraderie was evident between the players in the video.
