Watch: Glenn Maxwell loses his cool against New Zealand, kicks ropes in frustration
Australia had a bad day against their Trans-Tasman rivals and neighbors, New Zealand. After choosing to bowl first, the Kangaroos were badly mauled by the Kiwi batters. The likes of Finn Allen, Devon Conway, Glenn Phillips, and Jimmy Neesham were in no mood to give respects to their Australian counterparts. Meanwhile, at the end of the innings, Glenn Maxwell lost his cool.
Apparently, Neesham finished off the innings with a six over wide long-on. At one stage, it looked like Maxwell would take the catch and the innings would end at 194/4. However, the left-hander timed the ball well and got enough elevation to go over the top of the ‘Big Show’. The explosive Aussie batter wasn’t happy with the result as the Blackcaps finished 200/3. After this, Maxwell kicked the boundary rope.
The video of the incident has been going viral.

Talking about the game, the defending champions failed to chase down the total. They were all-out on 111 runs, losing the game by 89 runs. This has resulted in a heavy loss in the Net Run Rate for the home side as it reads (-4.450). Aaron Finch’s men now need to win every game to qualify for the semis and try to win at least one game by a big margin.
After the game, Finch, the losing skipper said “They certainly did (on the New Zealand openers), they set the tone in the first 4 overs and we didn’t recover. Needed a big start, that didn’t happen and we were outplayed completely,” Finch was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation ceremony.
“He got off to a flier (on Finn), we needed early wickets, which didn’t happen and when we chased, we lost too many wickets, we weren’t good enough with the net run-rate taking a bad hit. We play Sri Lanka next, four games left, need to win everything and have some luck on our side,” he added.
