Afghanistan and India recently encountered each other for the Final match of the 19th edition of the Asian Games 2023, Saturday in Hangzhou, China. India won the toss and chose to bowl first and successfully dismissed 5 wickets of Afghanistan’s batting lineup after they scored 112 runs in 18.2 overs.
The match was unfortunately interrupted by rain as Afghanistan failed to complete their innings of 20 overs and left the game with 10 balls remaining in the first innings. The Indian batsmen could not even come to the crease, to bat and cheese The low score.
Afghanistan opening batsmen Zubaid Akbari and Mohd. Shahzad got out for low runs as they scored 5 and 4 runs, respectively off 8 and 6 deliveries with a strike rate of 62.5 and 66.7, respectively, after hitting one boundary each.
The team’s middle-order batsmen took Afghanistan to a decent total of runs, as Shahidullah Kamal and captain Gulbadin Naib scored 49 and 27 runs off 43 and 24 deliveries with a strike rate of 113.95 and 112.5, respectively. The other middle-order batsman Afsar Zazai scored 15 off 20 balls while hitting two boundaries.
The Indian bowlers Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Dube, Shabaz Ahmed and Ravi Bishnoi all got a wicket each, as they dismissed the Afghanistan batsmen. The match was abandoned due to consistent rain, since the final match of the men’s cricket event of the continental multisport, the Asian Games, 2023 did not have a reserve for the tournament’s final game, the match was abandoned, and India was declared as the contender for the gold medal.

After winning the gold medal for the first time in men’s cricket, the athletes were highly elated as previously the Indian women’s cricket team also brought the gold medal in the women’s cricket event of the Asian Games 2023. The Indian fast bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan were seen dancing and singing along with the spinner Ravi Bishnoi with the prestigious gold medal hanging on his neck.
The trio were seen celebrating as they danced to the tune of the popular patriotic Song “Lehra Do” by Arijit Singh, which was featured in the movie “83”. Notably, 83 is a Bollywood movie which was made to celebrate the ODI World Cup, 1983, which was the first World Cup which India won under the leadership of Kapil Dev.
