Meanwhile, there have been many rumours of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli having a rift. The two have denied any such allegations on numerous occasions. The two have proved time and again that they enjoy playing with one another and these small gestures add to the proof.

Earlier in the match, Rohit was also seen disappointed when Kohli returned to the dressing room after getting out on 45. It was expected that he will break his century drought and score his 71st century in his 100th match. However, that was not the case in the first innings as he was cleaned up by Lasith Embuldeniya.

His had a crucial partnership with Hanuma Vihari as they added important 90 runs on the board, and the two batted well for the 3rd wicket partnership to score a few good drives. Kohli will be more confident in the next innings of the game.

In the end, India was able to put a total of 574 on the board in the first innings. Ravindra Jadeja scored 175 runs and half-centuries from Ravichandran Ashwin, Rishabh Pant and Vihari helped India reach this huge total in the first innings.
