Watch: Sarfaraz Ahmed’s mother’s emotional interview post batter’s heroic Test century against New Zealand
Former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed made his comeback in Test cricket during the two-match series against New Zealand. The last time he played was in January 2019 when he was the captain across formats. During the series, the right-hander scored three fifties and a hundred. The 2017 Champions Trophy winner scored 335 runs in the series and was adjudged Player of the series.
In the second Test, Ahmed rescued the Asian side as they were reduced to 80/5 chasing 319. At that point, the team looked like losing another series at home after Australia and England. However, the former skipper and Saud Shakeel stitched a partnership of 123 runs to make the game interesting. In the last session, the wicketkeeper batter notched his Test century.
This inning helped the team salvage a draw and escaped with a series draw. After this, his mother’s interview has been doing rounds on the internet. In the interview, she revealed her son’s struggles in the last four years.

The teammates gave me confidence during the series: Sarfaraz Ahmed
” I was part of the team for four years and despite not getting chances here I was continuing to play well elsewhere. Wanted an opportunity from Allah and got it. I was very tensed in the first Test, but the boys and captain gave me confidence. (Last session) When 140 runs were left, the management said that you need to keep trying to score when the ball is there to hit. But then two wickets fell, and so we changed our style of play. If those two wickets didn’t fall then the result could’ve been something else. (This century – the best?) It is a fourth-innings century so it is special, probably my best.
