Watch: Sarfraz Ahmed and Mohammad Rizwan take DRS together amid confusion over Pakistan’s stand-in captain
Pakistan and New Zealand are playing the first Test of the two-match Test series in Karachi. After winning the toss, the home team amassed 438 runs, thanks to skipper Babar Azam and Salman Ali Agha’s tons and former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed‘s fifty. The latter is making his comeback after 47 months in Test match cricket. He is playing as a wicketkeeper batter and replaced Mohammad Rizwan, who is rested.
Meanwhile, on the ongoing third day of the game, skipper Azam wasn’t on the field. It is reported that he was unwell which is why Rizwan, who is the vice-captain of the team, took charge. In the 53rd over of the innings, left-arm spinner, Nauman Ali trapped Devon Conway for lbw. However, Aleem Dar, the on-field umpire gave it not out. At this stage, Ahmed was confident and eager to take the review.
However, he forgot that he is not the captain of the team anymore. This is the reason, he alongside Rizwan signaled for the DRS. The DRS proved fruitful as the ball tracker showed that the ball was pitching in line, hitting in line, and crashing into the stumps.
