Tomljanovic defeated Serena in a very tough 3-setter 7-5, 6-7(4), 6-1. The Australian Tennis star was coming off a great form after winning 15 matches out of her last 19 games.
On the other hand, Serena Williams looked in great form since his return to this year’s competition. However, she lost the match and that put the curtains on her illustrative career. During the post-match interview, Serena Williams became emotional. She shared his gratitude to all of his friends, family, and fans with tearful eyes. She said: “Thank you, Daddy. I know you’re watching. Thanks, Mom. Oh, my God. I thank everyone that’s here, that’s been on my side for so many years, decades. Oh, my gosh, literally decades. But it all started with my parents. And they deserve everything. So I’m really grateful for them.”
Serena also gave credit to her big sister Venus Williams for her career. She said: “I wouldn’t be Serena if there wasn’t Venus, so thank you, Venus. She’s the only reason that Serena Williams ever existed. It’s been a fun ride. It’s been the most incredible ride and the journey I’ve ever been on, I mean, in my life. I’m just so grateful to every single person that’s ever said, Go, Serena, in their life. I’m just so grateful, you got me here.”
“For me, tennis has been such a huge part of my life, I can’t imagine being involved in tennis,” she said. “I don’t know what that involvement is yet. But I feel like it’s provided me with so many opportunities. Through that, it’s provided other people with so many amazing opportunities. I think it means so much to me in my life, and I’ve had so many amazing moments, that I don’t see a future without it.” Serena Williams concluded. Meanwhile, she finished her career with 23 Grand Slam titles across all these years.
