In the second match of the fourth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023, Galle Titans (GG) locked horns with Dambulla Aura (DA) on Monday. DA skipper Kusal Mendis won the toss and opted to bowl first. While batting first, GG scored 180 runs for the loss of five wickets after the completion of the first innings.

While chasing a target of 181 runs, Avishka Fernando and Kushal Mendis came out to bat. During the second innings, a snake came into the pitch because of which the game was paused for some time. Seeing that, fans went crazy and shared their views on social media.

A thrilling end to the game in LPL 2023

If we talk about the picture, the incident happened during DA’sinnings. The game carried on after a short delay during the time in which the snake was removed from the pitch. For the second wicket, Shevon Daniel and Bhanuka Rajapaksa built a partnership of 50 runs. Two fours and two sixes included in his innings, Daniel was dismissed after scoring 33 runs off of 26 balls. Tim Seifert then fell short of scoring significantly as he was dismissed for 14 runs off of 17 balls without hitting a single boundary.

Shakib Al Hasan scored 23 runs off 14 balls, including one four and two sixes,as he shown some fight in order to chase the total. Rajapaksa was dismissed for 48 runs off of 34 balls, which included two sixes and five fours in his innings. However, it was their captain Dasun Shanaka, who managed to stay unbeaten with 42* runs off 21 balls, including two fours and four sixes. For DA, Binura Fernando and Dhananjaya de Silva each snapped one wicket, while Shahnawaz Dahani took two for 37 runs in four overs.

The match went into super over. Galee Titan won the match in the super over, as they chased down the target of nine runs in just two balls. Dasun Shanaka was awarded the Player of the Match award for his brilliant performance.
