New Zealand and the Netherlands are currently locking horns with each other in their second match of the 2023 ODI World Cup. After being asked to bat first on Monday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, New Zealand posted a competitive total of 322-7. The Kiwi bowlers have so far complemented their batters’ efforts well as they kept things under control with a scoreboard of 144-4 in 30 overs.

Matt Henry drew first blood by dismissing Vikramjit Singh (12 off 20) in the sixth over. Mitchell Santner and Rachin Ravindra picked up one wicket each of Max ODowd and Bas de Leede, respectively. Star Kiwi pacer Trent Boult usually rattles through the opposition’s top order in the powerplay, however, he couldn’t do it this time. But the left-arm seamer produced an outstanding fielding effort to gift the wicket of D-Lead to Ravindra.

After losing their second wicket right after the powerplay, the Men in Orange were looking to build a good partnership with their previous match hero De Leede and all-rounder Colin Ackermann in the middle. However, Boult’s incredible presence of mind and acrobatics saw De Leede packed off after scoring 18 off 25 balls.

Trent Boult again displays his excellent fielding skills

The Dutch all-rounder sent Ravindra’s tossed-up delivery in the fourth ball of the 17th over towards long off. Boult correctly judged the trajectory of the ball and juggled a bit in and out of the boundary rope to grab a spectacular catch. Boult once again displayed his amazing fielding skills as a result of which the Netherlands reeled at 67/3 after 17 overs.

Earlier, New Zealand opener Will Young, Rachin Ravindra and captain Tom Latham scored half-centuries. With Kane Williamson likely to return for the next match, it was essential for Young to score some runs and he did just that, scoring 70 off 80 balls, including 7 fours and 2 sixes. Aryan Dutt, Paul van Meekeren, and Roelof van der Merwe grabbed two wickets each. Meanwhile, Bas de Leede took one wicket of dangerous Glenn Phillips.
