Watch: Virat Kohli, Dean Elgar exchange words after Kohli survives close call
South Africa will be pleased with how things went for them on Day 1 of the final test against India. The hosts bundled out India for 223 to take the driver’s seat in the match. None of the Indian batters could resist the Proteas bowling. However, skipper Virat Kohli was at his vintage best. Kohli went on to score a fluent 79 and helped India reach a respectable total.
There is never a dull moment every time Virat Kohli is on the field. The Indian skipper likes to engage with the opposition, something that happened on Day 1 of the Test as well.
In the 51st Over, South Africa thought they got Kohli caught behind down the leg side. However, the on-field umpire was not convinced and didn’t raise his finger. The Proteas skipper Dean Elgar then decided to go upstairs, only to find that the ball has brushed the thigh pad.
Post the confirmation, Virat Kohli and Dean Elgar were seen having a chat on the decision, with Elgar not amused, shaking his head in disappointment.

Meanwhile, India pulled things back late in the day when Jasprit Bumrah got the big fish Dean Elgar for 3. Day 2 should be the moving day in the Test and will give a clear idea of where the match is heading to.
