West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joesph has joined Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Shamar Joseph has joined Lucknow Super Giants for 3 Crore. He will look to recover fast for the IPL as he has picked a toe injury in the second Test match as he was hit by a toe-crushing yorker by Michell Starc. This injury also forced him to pull out of ILT20 he was going to represent Dubai Capitals.

The fast bowler has been a star for the West Indies against Australia. Shamar Joseph made his debut in Australia. His first Test wicket was Steve Smith. In the second Test match, he took 7 wickets in the second innings and his bowling heroics helped West Indies to win in Australia after 27 years. This is the first time he is going to play in IPL.

Lucknow Super Giants has bought six players in the mini-auction

The reason withdrawal of England fast bowler Mark Wood is yet unknown. Mark Wood was part of the England team that played the first Test match against India in Rajeev Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. For the second Test match, he was rested and James Anderson was picked in Vizag.

In last year’s IPL, he played four games and got 11 wickets for LSG. He also took a five-wicket haul against Delhi Capitals. While playing Test for England he has got 104 wickets from 32 matches with an average of 30.04. He has also represented England in ODI and T20Is. In 66 ODI matches, he has got 77 wickets with an economy of 5.52 in ODIs. In 28 T20Is for England, he has taken 45 wickets. He was also a part of the 2019 ODI World Cup team and the 2022 T20 World Cup team.

For IPL 2024 Lucknow Super Giants has bought six players in the mini auction. They have also traded Devdutt Padikkal from Rajasthan Royals. With IPL Contract in hand, he will be preparing for the 2024 T20 World Cup which is going to take place in West Indies and the USA.
