‘What a joke’ – Fans react angrily as Suryakumar Yadav is set to become Indian T20 captain vs Australia

Suryakumar Yadav has been named as the new T20I skipper of India as per CRICBUZZ. The 33-year-old will be leading the side in the five-match series after Hardik Pandya was injured during the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament.

As per reports even Shreyas Iyer was looked at as possible captaincy candidate. The selectors though decided to go with the 33-year-old who is one of the best batters in this format of the game.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Shami are also set to be rested for the series. Youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rinku Singh, and Arshdeep Singh could be part of the Indian team.

Suryakumar Yadav named skipper of the T20I side –

33-year-old Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav has been appointed the new skipper of the Indian T20I side. Yadav, will lead the Indian side in the absence of Hardik Pandya who is set to miss a lot of cricketing action.

CRICBUZZ also reported that Shreyas Iyer was in the running to be the captain of the side. The Indian selectors will be looking to field a young team after most of the senior side are set to be rested for the series.

Ishan Kishan is most likely to pip Sanju Samson as the wicket-keeper for the Indian side. There are rumours that Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also set to make a comeback for the men in blue in the T20 format.

Umran Malik, Prasidh Krishna, and Shivam Mavi could be the other players who could be the fast bowlers for the series. Ravi Bishnoi and Shahbaz Ahmed could be the lead spinners while Washington Sundar could also be in the running for a comeback to the team.

Matthew Wade is set to lead the Australian which had already been announced earlier. VVS Laxman is set to coach the Indian side as Rahul Dravid will be taking a rest. Rahul Dravid is yet to decide on his future as the Indian coach after the dismal loss in the ODI World Cup 2023 final on Sunday.

After the series against Australia, the Indian team will travel to South Africa to play 3 ODI and T20 matches as well as two test matches. The announcement of the squad is expected to be later in the day on Monday as the series begins on 23^rd November.
