‘What message is it going to give…’ – Former Pakistan cricketer’s bold statement on ‘Iyer-Ishan’ central contract termination by Indian Cricket Board

The termination of the annual central contracts of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer by the Indian Cricket Board has ignited a major debate in the entire cricketing fraternity. A lot of former cricketers have spoken in favour of both cricketers, coming up with a hard analysis of the board’s ‘strict’ decision to terminate the contracts.

On the other hand, some of the cricket experts for cricketers have come ahead in support of the Indian Cricket Board’s decision to set an example against the ‘unprofessionalism’ and ‘indiscipline’ of the duo.

“What message is it going to give to all the youngsters?” – Kamran Akmal about Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan

In the same line of events, the former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal has also come up with his ‘hard-and-fast-lined’ analysis about this entire ‘contract’ row involving Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer, alongside the Indian Cricket Board.

“Shreyas Iyer played the first two Tests of the series. If you don’t value cricket because of which you made it to the national team, what message is it going to give to all the youngsters?” said Akmal in a video on his YouTube channel.

Indian Cricket Board has made the right call, taking such strict action early on to control the damage. If they had given them a levy and handed them central contracts, a lot more players would have started playing on their terms in the future. India have given a message to their players to ensure that nobody even thinks of doing something like this the next time. This is proof of good management. Nobody is bigger than the game,” he added later.

Notably, Ishan Kishan was recently in the controversial headlines after an ESPN Cricinfo report learned that it was only he who refused the off from the Indian Cricket Board to play in the ongoing five-match Test series against England.
