Who is Kaviya Maran ? All you need to know about Hyderabad team owner
Kaviya Maran, co-owner of the Hyderabad team in the Indian T20 League, is the talk of the town on Twitter. She grabbed a lot of attention during the mega auction last weekend. This is not the first time she has grabbed this much attention. During and after every Hyderabad game, netizens come up with funny memes on her and her team depending on the outcome of the game or the situation of the game.
This weekend was no different as she was sharing the table alongside team director Tom Moody and Muttiah Muralitharan as all of them were busy building a squad for the upcoming season. The franchise had retained their skipper Kane Williamson and two uncapped players Umran Malik and Abdul Samad. The franchise has now built their squad although there seem to be a few loopholes.
Kaviya is the daughter of media baron and co-owner Kalanithi Maran. The senior Maran is the owner of the media conglomerate SUN group which owns the Hyderabad-based team. Notably, he is the grand-nephew of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister N. Karunanidhi. The junior Maran also owns SUN Music and 48 FM channels of SUN group.
The Chennai-based company bought the team in late 2012 after the previous owners, Deccan Chronicle went bankrupt. Meanwhile, Kolkata co-owner and Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan’s kids, Suhana Khan and Aryan Khan also grabbed the spotlight. Co-owner Juhi Chawla Mehta’s daughter Janhavi Mehta were not short of spotlight either as they were trying to build a new squad for the upcoming season.
