The Women’s Premier League got off to a great start in 2023. The tournament was a huge success as Mumbai Indians went on to win the title by beating Delhi Capitals in the final. After the success of the first tournament, the anticipation for the second tournament is on the rise.

As per reports, the five-team tournament could be played in two venues. Last year the entire tournament was held in Mumbai. The finals were played in the iconic Brabourne Stadium.

The Men’s IPL auction is set to be held in Dubai on the 19th of December. The Women’s auction is also set to be held around the same time albeit a bit earlier. All five teams have already given their retained list with a lot of big names up for grabs in the auction.

Mumbai and Bengaluru to host WPL 2024?

As per reports emanating there is a likelihood that Mumbai and Bengaluru could host the Women’s Premier League 2024 season. The tournament could kick-start towards the end of February and end in March before the 2024 IPL season begins.

Mumbai Indians will start as the defending champions as Harmanpreet Kaur and her side won the title by 7 wickets. Delhi Capitals were the opponents in the game with some huge names like Meg Lanning on the side.

In the final Delhi Capitals batted first and scored 131/9 from their 20 overs with Meg Lanning top-scoring with 35 runs. Hayley Matthews took 3/5 from her four overs with the ball.

Chasing 132 to win, Mumbai saw Natalie Sciver-Brunt score 60 not out from 55 balls. Mumbai Indians won the game with three balls to spare to spark off massive celebration in the stands.

Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore finished fourth and fifth with just 2 wins from 8 games. Ahead of the next season a lot of teams will be looking to make some big-name additions. Gujarat in particular has a lot of money in the bank as they released a lot of players. Smriti Mandhana and her RCB side will want to better their performance after their disastrous 2023 season.
