The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) headed by Najam Sethi are leaving no stone unturned to get things sorted after a dismal outing at home that cost them the reputation and ranking points as well. That being said, with the 50-over World Cup set to take place later in India, it remains to be seen if Babar Azam would continue as the captain of the Pakistan cricket team.

Former Pakistani cricketer Sikander Bakht opened up on modern-era players and said that they have no respect for coaches and former cricketers. For the unversed, the PCB is working on roping on Mickey Arthur as the online coach and commenting on the same, Bakht said that the current-gen stars would respect a foreigner more than former Pakistani players.

“I had once tried to tell a Pakistan player when I was involved with the Pakistan team. He said, ‘You have just played 26 Tests for Pakistan. I have played 40. You are trying to teach me? I am saying this on oath’. This is the approach of players. You think a cricketer can go and say something to Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Shadab Khan? The players behave well with foreign coaches. Take Mickey Arthur, he hasn’t played a single international game but he is good with man management. Because he’s a foreigner, they are scared of him,” Bakht was quoted as saying to Geo News.

We have had a lot of coaches from Pakistan: Sikander Bakht

Further, Bakht said that he used to pray every day during ‘Namaz’ to not be given an opportunity to serve team Pakistan as the head coach, as he explained what made him have an unfavourable opinion against the Pakistani players. With Arthur making his return as the head coach of the Men in Green team, fans are hoping for a turnaround ahead of the multinational tournament.

“We have had a lot of coaches from Pakistan. Be it Javed Miandad, Waqar Younis, Saqlain Mushtaq, Mohammad Yousuf – but they couldn’t handle. I will take an example of a player without taking his name, who works with me on Geo. He told me that he prays every day that he is not given any role with PCB. There are so many difficulties and pressure there that I pray in every Namaz that I don’t be given a job with PCB,” Bakht was quoted as saying.
