 ‘Young team ne toh kamal kar diya’ – Fans react as India defeat Ireland by 33 runs to take 2-0 lead in three-match T20I series

After winning the first T20I by two runs, India locked horns against Ireland in the second T20I of the three-match T20I series. The match was played at The Village, in Dublin on Sunday, August 20. Men in Blue won the match by 33 runs and youngster, Rinku Singh was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant batting performance. He scored 38 runs off 21 balls with two fours and three sixes in his innings.

If we talk about the game, Ireland skipper, Paul Stirling won the toss and elected to bowl first. The visitors while batting first scored 185 runs with the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs. Except for Rinku, players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson, and Shivam Dube played notable knocks for their side. Gaikwad scored 58 runs from 43 balls which included six fours and a six in his innings, on the other hand, Samson scored 40 runs off 26 balls with five fours and a six in his innings. In the end, Dube played an unbeaten knock of 22 runs from 16 balls which included two sixes in his innings.

The trio guides India to victory

The pick of the bowlers for the hosts was Bary McCarthy, who snapped two wickets in his spell of four overs where he conceded 36 runs in the spell. One wicket each was grabbed by Mark Adair, Craig Young, and Benjamin White in their respective spell of four overs where they conceded 36 runs, 29 runs, and 33 runs respectively in their spells.

Ireland while chasing 186 runs, they were able to score only 152 runs with the loss of eight wickets. The highest scorer for the side was Andrew Balbirnie who scored 72 runs off 51 balls with five fours and four sixes in his innings. Players like Curtis Campher, Adair, and George Dockrell scored runs but that was not enough for the side to take over the line.

For team India, two wickets each were bagged by Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, and Ravi Bishnoi in their respective spells of four overs where they conceded 15 runs, 29 runs, and 37 runs respectively in their spells. One wicke was taken by left-arm seamer, Arshdeep Singh in his spell of four overs where he conceded 29 runs in his spell.
