Rohit Sharma marked his return to T20I captaincy with a series win over Afghanistan. This was India’s final T20I assignment ahead of the 2024 World Cup in June. India won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal were back in the team for Shubman Gill and Tilak Varma. Noor Ahmed came in for Rahmat Shah who was rested for the game. Batting first Afghanistan scored 172 runs from their 20 overs.

The teams now move to Bengaluru as the final game will be played on Wednesday. Gulbadin Naib led the charge with a blistering half-century for the visitors. Arshdeep Singh did the trick with the ball picking 3/32 from his four overs.

India prevails over Afghanistan to seal the series –

Ravi Bishnoi, Axar Patel, and Shivam Dube gave the Indian Cricket Team a fine start. Rahmanullah Gurbaz mistimed a shot to be caught by Shivam Dube for 14. Axar Patel then bowled Ibrahim Zadran for 8 while Dube got the wicket of Omarzai for just two.

Veteran batter Gulbadin Naib kept the score ticking as the visitors put the Indian bowlers under pressure. Rinku Singh clung onto an easy catch to give Bishnoi his second wicket as Naib was out for 57.

None of the other Afghan batters could keep the scoreboard ticking as they lost wickets regularly. The final score of 172 might have been their highest but the Indore wicket is known to be batting-friendly.

Rohit Sharma was out for a first-ball duck when he was bowled by Fazalhaq Farooqi. This was the second duck in a row for the Indian skipper. Virat Kohli played a forceful shot to get off the mark and scored 29 runs. Naveen Ul Haq had the former Indian skipper caught by Ibrahim Zadran to give Afghanistan their second wicket.

Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal then took the match away from the opposition. The two Mumbai players added 92 runs for the third wicket. Karim Janat got the wicket of Jaiswal when he was out for 68 off 34 balls with five fours and 6 sixes. it was yet another fifty for Shivam Dube who continued his amazing form with the bat. India with this win has now sealed the series and kept their proud bilateral series record alive.
