‘2nd Warm up khelega?’ Fans react to Virat Kohli going back home due to personal reasons
The Indian Cricket team has reached Kerala to play their 2nd Warm-Up Game. One player missing from the side is Virat Kohli. The former India skipper has rushed back home due to personal reasons. India’s first warm-up game was abandoned on Saturday due to a constant downpour. Rohit Sharma had won the toss and chosen to bat first before rains came down and ended the day.
The next game for the two-time world champions is against the Netherlands. Meanwhile, the Dutch faced Australia on Saturday at the same venue, which also saw heavy rainfall. The match was reduced to 23 overs per side before yet another spell of downpour put an end to the game.
Virat Kohli heads back home for personal reasons –
Former India skipper Virat Kohli has flown to Mumbai for emergency personal reasons. In a report carried by CRICBUZZ later confirmed by sources close to the Indian Cricket Board. The 34-year-old is expected to join the team on Tuesday in time for the match.
Speculations are rife that Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are set to welcome their 2nd child. The second game too is under the cloud in the literal sense of the terms. As per reports rain could again play a huge part ahead of the final warm-up game on Tuesday.
As per reports, it rained on Sunday and things do not look good for Monday as well. This will be a huge dent in the works for the Indian team. Rohit Sharma and his open their 2023 ODI World Cup campaign in six days against Australia in Chennai.
One source close to the Indian team was heard saying “Team India will have an optional training session from 2 PM onwards at the KCA – St Xavier’s College Cricket Ground, Thiruvananthapuram, weather permitting”
Monday’s round of warm-up games will pit England versus Bangladesh at Guwahati. New Zealand will take on South Africa in Kerala. England and South Africa just like India are yet to get a feel of the action on the ground. Bangladesh and New Zealand posted wins in their respective Warm-Up games.
Tuesday’s schedule witnesses the final three warm-up games before the 2023 ODI World Cup starts. Pakistan takes on Australia in Hyderabad, while Afghanistan plays Sri Lanka in Guwahati. India’s game against the Netherlands will be their final chance to iron out the last-minute details.
