The T20 cricket started in 2005. The first T20 match was played between New Zealand and Australia. Later in the year 2007, the first T20 World Cup was played in South Africa. India had won the first T20 World Cup against Pakistan.  Later in 2008, an idea rose to gain more popularity in cricket as the Indian Premier League started. In 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL) Andre Russell played an important role as he won the matches single-handedly for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Before playing for KKR, Andre Russell used to play for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). In a 2014 auction, KKR bought the all-rounder for the price of 60 lakhs. Since then, he has been the backbone of the team. In the 2019 IPL season, he played 14 games and scored 510 runs with an average of 56.66 with a strike rate of 205.
