When England announced their squad for the World Cup, eyebrows were raised after not seeing this batter. Jason Roy is known for his explosive batting abilities in the white-ball format for England. However, in recent times, he failed to score big. Even, in the ongoing ‘The Hundred’ tournament, he had chances to impress everyone. Still, he failed to make any significant contribution. 

Hence, selectors took the decision to exclude him from the final squad. On Roy’s omission, Rob Key, the managing director of England men’s cricket, said: “He’s obviously very disappointed and wants to have the chance to go and show that he’s not finished in international cricket – which none of us feel that he is. I still think he’s a fantastic player, it’s just that literally, the timing has been awful for him.”
