5 Learnings From England’s T20I Series Loss Against India
After Eoin Morgan’s retirement from all formats of the game, the England Cricket Board appointed Jos Buttler as the new captain of their white-ball format. Hence, this recently concluded three-match T20I series against India was his first assignment to showcase his leadership quality.
However, the series did not go as per plan for Jos Buttler and his men as they lost the series to India at a margin of 2-1. In the first two matches, India just outplayed England in all three departments. But, Jos Buttler finally managed to open his account as the captain of the side by defeating India in the last match of the series by 17 runs. However, ahead of the mega event later this year in Australia, this series brought some learnings for England.

Jos Buttler was the front-runner to be the new captain in the white-ball format after Morgan’s retirement. But, England Cricket Board needs to manage this wicketkeeper batter’s workload ahead of the mega event in Australia.
Jos Buttler does wicketkeeping in both T20Is and ODIs. Hence, the Board may decide on another wicketkeeping option, especially in the shortest format of the game. Jonny Bairstow, Phil Salt, and Sam Billings can be an option for that wicketkeeper position ahead of this year’s World Cup.
