It was a heartbreaking day for Indian fans when India lost their first ever T20I match against Pakistan in a T20 World Cup in 2021. No one saw this coming as India lost that event opener. Things went bad to worse when India failed to qualify for the final fours of that event.

However, since that event, India made several changes in their overall playing style in this shortest format of the game. The Indian team took some hard decisions and as of now, those have come up as blessings for them. Now, they are gearing up to face Pakistan again in the Asia Cup on 28 August 2022. Meanwhile, they will face again each other in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Here are the five changes that India has made since their defeat against Pakistan in the last T20 World Cup

Change in Captaincy

When India last played Pakistan during the T20 World Cup 2021, Virat Kohli was the captain of the side. However, before that tournament, Kohli announced that he will leave that post after that mega event. Hence, India got a new captain in the form of Rohit Sharma. Speaking about Kohli’s numbers as a T20I captain, he ended with a 64.58 win percentage in 50 matches (30 wins, 16 losses, 2 ties, and 2 no results).

Since then, Rohit Sharma has managed this captaincy duty brilliantly. India did not lose a single T20I series till now after the last T20 World Cup. Hence, Rohit Sharma’s appointment as a captain worked wonders for Team India. As of now, he captained India 35 times where he won 29 matches along with six losses (win – 82.85%). In 2022, India won 16 matches under his leadership.
