 5 Players who can go unsold in IPL 2024 auction

The world’s biggest and most successful cricket league, the Indian Premier League is back with another season to conduct some unrealistic and thrilling games between the 10-team franchises. IPL 2024 will commence around mid-March 2024 and the auction for the tournament will be conducted on 19th December in Dubai. 

After the closure of the retention window, approximately 85 players have been released from all the franchises and multiple players have submitted their names for the 17th season of the IPL. Amongst a lot of players who will get good deals, there will be some players who might go unsold at the mini-auction. 

Here is a list of five players who might go unsold at the IPL 2024 auction

1 Umesh Yadav 

India’s veteran fast bowler Umesh Yadav is on the list of players who might go unsold in the IPL 2024 auction. The right-arm pacer has served the two-time IPL winner Kolkata Knight Riders for years now and after many seasons of passive participation, Yadav has been released by the team this time around.

2 Litton Das 

Bangladesh’s striking opening batter Litton Das has had a good record in T20 cricket but could not make a mark for himself in the IPL. After having multiple opportunities for KKR the Bangladeshi batter could not impress the team management and was released.

3 Dasun Shanaka 

Sri Lanka’s middle-order batter and captain Dasun Shanaka didn’t get many chances in the IPL 2023 with Gujarat Titans. Despite having a good record in the shortest format, Shanaka was released by the IPL 2023 finalist, Gujarat Titans.

4 Shakib Al Hasan 

The Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan has played for KKR and SRH. For the Knight Riders, he used to play for them from 2011 to 2017. In the last few years, he hasn’t been able to participate in the last season due to personal reasons. Due to this, he might not get picked and also, he doesn’t offer a long-term solution.

5 Joe Root 

The English player has had a good record in the longer formats but could not make a mark for himself in T20 cricket. Root played for the 2008 winners, Rajasthan Royals in the 2023 season. He has pulled out of the 2024 season due to workload.
