On 12 September 2022, India announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup. However, before that mega event, they are going to play two T20I series against Australia and South Africa respectively on home soil.

India also announced final squads for those series. The three-match T20I series against the Aussies will start on 20 September. After a dismal Asia Cup campaign, India will like to find out some positives in this home series against Australia.

India will like to see these five positives in the Australia series ahead of the 20-20 World Cup

Kl Rahul’s form while opening

KL Rahul had a poor Asia Cup campaign while opening the innings. He scored only 132 runs in five matches, at an average of 26.40. Fans also criticized him for his strike rate. Hence, India will hope for a better show from him against Australia.

Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel’s Fitness

Jasprit Bumrah missed the Asia Cup due to a back injury. While Harshal Patel missed the same tournament due to a side strain injury. Now, selectors picked both of them for the Australia series. Hence, India will keep their eyes on their fitness in the series ahead of the 20-20 World Cup.

Team Combination based on the inclusion of Deepak Hooda or Axar Patel

Both Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel also get a chance in this series. However, India will look to find out a better team combination with the inclusion of these players. However, India tried to use Hooda as a finisher in the Asia Cup. But, he failed to deliver. So, now they might try to use Axar Patel against Australia. He can bowl four overs and also can contribute with the bat in critical situations.

Mohammed Shami’s form

After India’s poor bowling performance in the Asia Cup 2022, fans were asking to include Mohammed Shami in the Indian squad. Selectors went with him for this series. So, against Australia, India will look to keep an eye on Shami’s form by giving him as many chances as possible.

First-choice wicketkeeper between Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik

In the Asia Cup 2022, India looked a bit confused when it came to playing either Dinesh Karthik or Rishabh Pant as the keeper. Therefore, in this T20I series against Australia, they will like to finalize their first-choice wicketkeeper. It will help them to set a better team combination for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup.
