MS Dhoni was given the opportunity to lead India in 2007 when India participated in the inaugural edition of the T20 World cup in South Africa. He passed the test with flying colours as India won that tournament by defeating arch-rivals Pakitan in the final.
From 2007 to 2018, Dhoni led India in 332 matches across all three matches. Among them, he led India in 200 ODIs, 60 Tests, and 72 T20Is before announcing his retirement on August 15, 2020. Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting is in the second spot as he led his country in 324 matches across all formats.
