The star Australian all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell was retained by Bangalore ahead of the Indian T20 League 2022. But he has not appeared for the franchise till now in the 15th edition of the tournament. He has been unavailable due to personal reasons. However, he joined the team a week ago and has completed his mandatory quarantine period. Yet he will not be available for selection in Bangalore’s match against Rajasthan.

Maxwell was seen practicing with the Bangalore team on the eve of the Rajasthan match, and rumors were ripe that he will take the field for Bangalore against the men in pink. However, according to the latest news Maxwell will miss out on the match today, because of a clause laid down by Cricket Australia for its contracted players.

Maxwell was not a part of the Australian team touring Pakistan, but still, he has to wait till April 6 before donning the reds of Bangalore in the Indian T20 League 2022. The development on Maxwell was confirmed by Bangalore’s Head Coach Mike Hesson. To quote him form a video shared on Bangalore’s official Twitter page – “It’s pretty clear from Cricket Australia’s point of view that no contracted players are available before the 6th of April. So, regardless of when they arrive here, they can’t play before the 6th of April.”

“We have been well aware of that as every other side. We have planned for that. Maxi will be with us and available from the 9th,”- Hesson further added.

Notably, after the Rajasthan match, Bangalore will next play Mumbai on the 9th of April at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
