Virat Kohli is currently busy with his Indian teammates as they are gearing up for the rescheduled fifth Test match against England from 1 July 2022. After having an average Indian T20 League season with his Bangalore franchise, Virat was given rest ahead of this ongoing T20I series at home against South Africa. Even though, other big names like Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah were also given rest ahead of this crucial Test match in England. 

He was on vacation also with his family members and after this much-needed break, he will look to be back in his best form in the upcoming series. However, another milestone got added to his name as he became the third sportsperson in the world to gain 300 million followers on the combined of all social media platforms. Former Indian captain, MS Dhoni is in the second spot behind Kohli in this matter.  

He is the first Asian and Indian to achieve this feat

Virat Kohli is the first Asian, especially Indian to gain such a high number of followers on social media, Combined Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. He is also the first cricket to receive so much affection from global fans who look to follow his daily lifestyle and routine.

Since 2019, Virat had not been performing as per his caliber as he failed to score a ton in all three formats of the game. But, off the field, it did not affect his popularity at all as his fanbase is getting stronger day by day.

In this year’s Indian T20 League, he scored 341 runs in 16 innings at an average of 22.73 as Banglore failed to seal the final berth after getting defeated by Rajasthan in the Qualifier 2. This upcoming Test match is from India’s tour of England in the 2021 series. In this series so far, Virat managed to score 218 runs in seven innings at an average of 31.14.
