India is gearing up for playing the fifth Test match against England as the match is rescheduled after it got canceled last year due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Indian players already reached London to start their preparations for this match.

Some players along with head coach, Rahul Dravid headed lately and they will join directly with the rest of the team at Leicestershire as India will play a four-day warm-up match there. However, India dealt a huge blow as their top-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin failed to travel with the squad for England as he got infected with the Covid-19.

Jayant Yadav is kept as his replacement – As per reports

An Indian Cricket Board source said that Ashwin will go under the required protocols now and will serve his isolation period. However, as per reports go, he is believed to be back in the action for the Test match. He will definitely miss the practice match against Leicestershire.

Now, according to the reports by Cricbuzz, the Indian board kept Jayant Yadav as his replacement if he fails to join the squad before the stipulated time. Even though, Ashwin is expected to return to the Team before this one-off Test. Till now, Jayant Yadav played six Test matches where he grabbed 16 wickets and scored 248 runs with a high score of 104. 

Speaking about the series, India is leading it by a margin of 2-1. So, they can create history by winning this next match as their series win will be completed on English soil. On the other hand, England will look to avoid a draw or loss in this match to level the series as they will come off from a series victory over the current World Test Champions New Zealand on their home soil only.
