Indian players are now busy with the upcoming one-off Test match against England from July 1, 2022. Players arrived earlier there to start the proceedings as they will play a four-day warm-up match against Leicestershire.

Big names like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were given rest ahead of this series from the T20I series at home against the Proteas. Former Indian captain used that break by having a vacation in the Maldives with his beloved wife, Anushka Sharma, and daughter Vamika. However, as per some reports, Virat got infected with Covid-19 after coming back from vacation. Ravichandran Ashwin had already missed the flight to England after being affected by this virus.

Virat Kohli might miss the Warm-up match as well

After being affected by the virus, Ashwin needs to go under the required protocols and isolation period. As per reports, he is set to join the team before the Test match. But, he might miss the warm-up match. Now, a trusted source, speaking to the Times of India (TOI), said that the former Indian captain was affected by Covid after his vacation in the Maldives. He said: “Yes, Virat Kohli was also affected by Covid after coming back from his Maldives vacation,”

He also added that it will be difficult for the head coach Rahul Dravid to plan for the warm-up match due to these issues. “This means that India’s tour game against Leicestershire on June 24 will not be as concentrated as coach Rahul Dravid had hoped, because medical advice is to avoid overloading the players after they have suffered Covid-19. There could be more Covid cases on the team,” he added.

Speaking about the series so far, Virat managed to score 218 runs in seven innings including two fifties. He scored at an average of 31.14. Rahul Dravid along with Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer are going to join the team straight in Leicestershire. After this one-off Test match, India is also scheduled for a T20I and ODI series against England in July.
