After losing the ODI series 3-2 earlier this week, Australia is currently playing the first Test match against Sri Lanka on their home soil. The match started on 29 June 2022 while Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. However, they got bundled out for 212 runs only, thanks to a fifer by Australia’s Nathan Lyon.

In reply, Australia started cautiously but they ended the day one’s play after scoring 98 runs by losing three wickets. Steve Smith was unable to score a three-figure mark in this longest format of the game despite scoring five half-centuries in his last 10 Test innings. Australia lost the big wicket of Steve Smith as he got run out due to a miscommunication with the non-striker batter, Usman Khawaja.

Speaking about the incident, Steve Smith was batting and as he hit the ball, he thought a single was there. But, after going two-three steps forward, Usman denied the run and Smith was already in the middle of the crease by then. However, he tried his best to reach the crease by diving. But, he got run out for six runs only. As of now, on day two, Australia is batting on 286 runs by losing eight wickets in 66 overs. Australian skipper Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon are on the crease as they already took a lead of 74 runs. Till now, Usman Khawaja made the high score of 71 runs off 130 balls in the innings.

Smith was completely livid with Khawaja after getting out due to such miscommunication. As he got out, Australia was in a spot of bothering by losing three wickets for 83 runs only. The Barmy Army find out this situation very funny and shared an image of dejected Steve Smith on their official Twitter account. But, that did not go well with some Indian fans as they came up with full support for Smith against the Barmy Army group.

Here is how Indian fans reacted to the post on Twitter:
