The 15th edition of the Asia Cup is going to happen from 27 August to 11 September 2022. On 8 August 2020, the Indian Cricket Board also announced the 15-member squad for this mega event. Meanwhile, Pakistan also announced their squad one more week earlier. However, both the Indian and Pakistan fans will be eager for this event.
India and Pakistan will clash in the group stage on 28 August 2022. Speaking of the tournament, if both teams qualify for the second round, they will meet again. But, there is a chance of meeting again for both these countries if they qualify for the finals.
So far, India has played against Pakistan on 14 occasions in Asia Cup
Speaking about the long history of the Asia Cup, India has faced Pakistan on 14 occasions so far. Among them, India won eight and lost five matches. While one match has been washed out so far. Both teams will play a qualifier in their 2nd Group Match.
As per the format of the Asia Cup, these teams will qualify for the Super Four stage after the group matches. Then, all four teams will play against each other once. Hence, India and Pakistan will meet again. Meanwhile, if both of them qualify from the Super Four stage, then they can meet thrice in the tournament in a span of 14 days.
However, both these teams are all set to miss again in the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. India holds the record of winning this tournament the most number of times (7). On the other hand, Pakistan has managed to win this tournament twice only.
