‘Let’s go Lanka’ – Twitter Erupts As Sri Lanka Wins A Thriller Against Bangladesh And Storms Into Super Four
In the ongoing Asia Cup, Sri Lanka locked horns with Bangladesh on 1 September 2022. Speaking of their form, both teams lost their first match against Afghanistan. Hence, both teams were looking for a win to seal a place in the super four of the tournament. However, these teams got involved in a controversy in the last few days.
After losing against Afghanistan, Dasun Shanaka said that it will be easy for them to play Bangladesh. They don’t have world-class bowlers like Afghanistan apart from Shakib al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman. Then, Khaled Mahmud said that they will show their capabilities in the match. Hence, the stage was set for a thrilling encounter in this year’s tournament.

Speaking of the match, Sri Lanka won the toss and Shanaka decided to bowl first. Meanwhile, Bangladesh batters started well this time around. They came up with a new opening pair of Mehedy Hasan Miraz and Shabbir Rahman. Megedy scored 38 runs off 26 balls, including two sixes and two fours. Then, other batters chipped in with some contribution. Thus, Bangladesh scored 183 runs in 20 overs by losing seven wickets. Mosaddek Hossain played well again as he scored 24* runs off nine balls only. Afif Hossain scored 39* runs off 22 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes. Five different Sri Lankan bowlers chipped in with wickets during the innings.
In reply, Sri Lankan batters kicked off their chase at a good pace. But, Ebadot Hossain made an impressive debut for Bangladesh in the match. In his three overs, he grabbed three wickets for 35 runs. In 10 overs, they were struggling by scoring 80 runs for four wickets. But, Kusal Mendis and skipper Shanaka tried to steady the ship. They put up a partnership of 54 runs as Mendis lost his wicket for 60 runs off 37 balls only. Hence, in 15 overs, they managed to score 137 runs by losing five wickets. Then, Shanaka tried his best before getting out on 45 runs off 33 balls. But, lower-order batters kept their nerves as they chased their target in 19.3 overs. With this win, Sri Lanka sealed their place in teh super four of this tournament.
