‘THIS IS WAT U CALL A MIRACLE’ – Fans Go Jubilant As Pakistan Win A Thriller At Sharjah Against Afghanistan In Asia Cup 2022

On 7 September 2022, Pakistan took on Afghanistan in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. Pakistan was coming off a win over India in the ‘Super Four’. They defeated India by five wickets while chasing 182 runs in 20 overs in Dubai. On the other hand, Afghanistan was coming off a defeat against Sri Lanka. Hence, the stage was set for another enthralling battle between these teams.

Pakistan was looking to seal its place in the final. Meanwhile, for Afghanistan, it was a must-win encounter. However, speaking of the match, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam won the toss. He opted to bowl first in Sharjah.

Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by one wicket in Asia Cup 2022

For opening the innings, Hazratullah Zazai and Rahmanullah Gurbaz came out to bat. They started well as they smashed 20 runs in the first two overs. But, Afghanistan lost both of them consecutively within 4.5 overs. Then, other batters came up with some contributions as they ended up scoring only 129 runs in 20 overs. They lost seven wickets while scoring those runs. Ibrahim Zadran scored 35 runs off 37 balls, including two fours and one six. But, he batted at a strike rate of 94.59. Pakistan used five bowlers and everyone got a wicket minimum. Only, Haris Rauf took two wickets in four overs by conceding 26 runs.

In reply, Pakistan dealt a major blow as their skipper, Babar Azam scored a golden duck. He lost his wicket on teh first ball to Farooqi. After 110 overs, Pakistan was struggling at a score of 52 runs by three wickets. Rashid Khan took the wicket of in-form Rizwan as he scored 20 runs off 26 balls. Then, Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan started to settle the chase for their country. But, Afghanistan bowlers performed brilliantly as Pakistan was 119 runs for nine wickets. Then, Naseem Shah hit two consecutive sixes and ensured Pakistan’s victory in the nail-biter. With this win, Pakistan sealed its place in the final against Sri Lanka. India and Afghanistan got knocked out of the tournament.
