After losing this year’s Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka, Pakistan is currently preparing to face England in a seven-match home T20I series. Meanwhile, on 15 September 2020, Pakistan announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup in Australia. In the Asia cup, Pakistan’s middle order batters got criticized due to their strike rate issues and lack of big-hitting abilities. Now, they with the same middle-order batters for the mega event. Regarding that, former Pakistani pacer, Shoaib Akhtar slammed the chief selector, Muhammad Wasim. He also called him an ‘average’ person as he shared the video on his Twitter account.

“Average people only like average people” – Shoaib Akhtar on Muhammad Wasim

Speaking on his YouTube channel Akhtar said that Muhammad Wasim is an average guy. Being an average guy, he can not make extraordinary decisions. Therefore, he only selected average middle-order batters like Iftikhar Ahmed. He said: “Average people only like average people and average people can never make extraordinary decisions. What kind of team selection has been made by the Pakistan Cricket Board? Pakistan’s problem was the middle order. When the chief selector himself is average. His choices will also be average.”

He also added that this chosen team might get knocked out from the group stage only in the World Cup. Akhtar said: “Let me tell you if Pakistan is knocked out in the very first round with this team, then I fear that Pakistan’s batting has been exposed, it has no depth at all, no thinking.”

He also warned that if Pakistan fails to perform well, then all the current management needs to get changed. “I think if Pakistan team does not perform from here and if they go to Australia with this batting and get exposed yet again, then I am telling you the Pakistan management and coaches will be sacked, and Ramiz Raja Saab Chairman of our cricket board. Even he won’t survive by November. No management will get away after making this kind of a selection” Shoaib Akhtar concluded.
