Watch: India and Pakistan fans dance to beats of ‘Pasoori’ before start of their 20-20 World Cup clash

Any match between India and Pakistan always excites the fans of both teams. The fact that the two arch-rivals only meet in major multi-team tournaments heightens the fans’ excitement. The same was the case for their recent encounter at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the 20-20 World Cup 2022.

While Pakistanis enjoy Bollywood films, Indians enjoy Pakistani music. One such song that has united both nations on social media is ‘Pasoori,’ which was released this year by Pakistan’s Coke Studio. The song not only went viral in Pakistan, but it also won the hearts of Indians. The song’s craze in both countries was evident during the India-Pakistan match on October 23. Before the start of the game, fans from both countries sang and danced to the Pasoori song. The video of the stadium crowd going crazy over the song has gone viral.

As for the match, India trashed Pakistan in a nail-biting thriller by four wickets. Arshdeep Singh, who was playing in his first World Cup, dismissed Babar Azam for a golden duck on his first ball. After Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi, India’s left-arm fast bowler became only the second bowler in T20I history to dismiss Babar for a first-ball duck. He finished with 3/32 as Pakistan batted first and scored 159/8.

India’s response was disastrous, with the team’s top order collapsing early on. Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah gave Pakistan some hope after dismissing the likes of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Suryakumar Yadav. In the meantime, former India captain Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya pushed the game to its limit, with Kohli hammering Pakistan’s bowlers (82* off 53).

Pandya made the difficult walk back to the dugout with 16 runs needed in the final over as Mohammad Nawaz ended his struggle. When the fourth ball was hit for a six, the umpire called a no-ball.
