In reply, India is set for another heartbreak in the World Championship. In reply to India’s 168/6, the Three Lions openers took it upon themselves to take the team over the line and join Pakistan for the title clash on November 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Jos Buttler scored an unbeaten 80 off 49 balls including nine fours and three sixes. On the other hand, Alex Hales scored an unbeaten 86 off 47 balls including four fours and seven sixes.

The latter has been adjudged Player of the match for his innings. In the post-match ceremony, he said “A huge occasion, really happy with the way I played. I think this is one of the best grounds to bat in in the world. Great value to hit your shots with the short square boundaries, and a ground I have good memories at. I never thought I’d play in a World Cup again, and to get a chance is a special feeling. It’s a country I love playing in. Jos was unbelievable out there.”

It will be a repeat of the 1992 ODI World Cup final as England takes on Pakistan on November 13. 30 years back, these teams played each other with Pakistan clinching the title
