Watch: Shivam Mavi takes a blinder at extra cover to dismiss Charitha Asalanka
In the third and last T20I between India and Sri Lanka, Shivam Mavi took a magnificent catch to send back Charitha Asalanka. In the 10th over of the Lankan Lions’ innings, the left-hander, Asalanka played a lofted cut short over covers. Yuzvendra Chahal, who was bowling at the time slipped a half-tracker trying to get away from the left-hander’s hitting zone.
At one point, it looked like the ball is heading toward a boundary. However, India pacer, Mavi ran from deep point to deep cover and grabbed the ball while running. In what could have been a four, the right-arm pacer turned it into a wicket. With this, the Dasun Shanaka lost their fourth wicket inside 10 overs. The video is going viral on the internet.

Talking about the game, both teams entered the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot with the three-match series leveled 1-1. The visitors needed to win this game to register their first-ever series victory in India across formats. Meanwhile, after winning the toss, the home team elected to bat first. Hardik Pandya, the stand-in captain stated “It looks like a good batting wicket. I think it is cold and we might get some swing at the night. We made mistakes, but even when we were not at our best, we competed.”
