Indian batter Kl Rahul’s current form has batter has been concerning for Team India in recent times. In the ongoing Test series against Australia, India have shown a dominant performance so far leading by 2-0 in a four-match series. However, Rahul didn’t have any big contribution to India’s wins in Nagpur and Delhi. The 31-year-old had scores of 20, 17, and 1 across three innings in two games.

There has been a lot of debate about whether Rahul should play in the third Test in Delhi or not. Some experts and former cricketers showed faith in him and said that he will come back stronger. Meanwhile, some say that it has been unfair for Shubman Gill who has been in tremendous form in the past few months.

Former Pakistani skipper Rashid Latif took a gig on Team India’s management on Rahul’s form. He stated that Rahul doesn’t deserve to feature in the playing XI with Gill in the squad. There should be no excuse. On his official Youtube channel, the anchor asked Latif if Team India should continue with Rahul.

“Ye (Rahul) deserve hi nahi karte Shubman Gill ke hote hue. Bahaana kuch bhi nahi hai, bas inho ko khilaana hai. (Rahul doesn’t even deserve a spot in the XI when Shubman Gill is there. There is no excuse here. The management just want to play him (Rahul),” said Latif

During the press conference held after the Delhi Test, Indian captain Rohit Sharma also stated that the team is backing Rahul and they are aware of his capabilities. Rohit also mentioned Rahul’s contribution to India overseas.

“Of late, there has been a lot of talk about his batting. For us, as team management, we always look at the potential of any individual, not just KL. I was asked in the past about a lot of players. If a guy has potential, he will get an extended run. Not just KL. If you look at the couple of hundreds he got, especially at Lord’s, batting on that damp pitch. Centurion was another win. Both came in India winning both games. That’s the potential he has,” said Rohit.

Indian have already retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the win in the Indore Test starting on March 1 will not only help the hosts to win the series but also secure a spot in the World Test Championship final.
