Indian cricketing fraternity expresses joy as ‘Naatu Naatu’ wins Oscar for the Best Original song

SS Rajamouli’s RRR has created history after the famous song from the movie ‘Naatu Naatu’ won the award Best Original Song in the 95th Academy Awards. Earlier this month, the song also won the Golden Globe award for best song.
The song from RRR won the Oscars by defeating international songs like Applause (Tell It Like a Woman), Hold My Hand (Top Gun Maverick), Lift Me Up (Black Pather Wakanda Forever), and This is a Life (Everything Everywhere All at Once).
Composer MM Keeravani collected the award along with the lyricist Chandrabose. Keeravani also delivered the speech after getting the award and said that he grew up listening to The Carpenters. He said in tune to The Carpenters’ 1970s song Top of the World.

“I grew up listening to The Carpenters and now here I am with the Oscars. There was only one wish on my mind, so was Rajamouli’s and our families’… ‘RRR’ has to win… Pride of every Indian… must put me on the top of the world,” said Keeravani after collecting the award.
While Chandrabose addressed the audience by saying ‘Namaste’ after Keeravani’s speech.
Earlier, singers of the track Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava gave a stellar performance by grooving into the beats of the song following all the kook steps. The performance got standing ovation from the audience.
RRR movie narrates a fictional tale from the 1920s, that draws inspiration from the lives of freedom fighters Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju. The movie entertains the audience with an ensemble cast with the likes of Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris, Samuthirakani, Alison Doody, and Ray Stevenson.
Other than RRR, The Elephant Whisperers became the second Indian movie to win an Oscar this year as the film was awarded for the Best Documentary Short Subject.
Many current and the former Indian cricketers expressed their joy over India’s double celebration in the Academy Awards. They took their social media to congratulate the winners and showered their praise and adoration to them.
