‘Aise Virat hi kar sake hai.’- Fans react as Ian Bishop praises Virat Kohli for his commitment towards rotating strike
India defeats the West Indies in the first Test in just three days. The victory at Windsor Park in Dominica was orchestrated by Yashaswi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma. Ravichandran Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers in the first Test, in two innings, he grabbed 12 wickets. Trinidad is hosting the second Test match in the series between the West Indies and India.
After winning the toss in this match, Windies captain Craig Brathwaite chose to bowl. In the first session of the second Test, both the openers gave a great start to Team India. By lunch, the Indian team had scored 121 runs in 26 overs without any loss. Rohit Sharma was unbeaten on 63 and Yashasvi Jaiswal was unbeaten on 52 at lunch.
Virat Kohli shines once again for India
In the second session, India lost four quick wickets with Yashasvi Jaiswal walking back to the dressing room after scoring 57 runs against Jason Holder. After that, Shubman Gill’s poor form in the Carribean Islands continues as he fell only for 10 runs and Rohit Sharma who looked in great touch missed out on a hundred in the first innings. After this Kohli and Rahane handled the innings, but eventually just before lunch, Rahane was also dismissed by Gabriel.
Ian Bishop said, “Here’s a guy who’s around for 500 games, knows the value of each run. Putting his body on the line, that tells you about his commitment. I wish I could tell every youngster in the Caribbean to run like that and not wait for boundaries.”
India head coach Rahul Dravid said, “I did not know that this would be Virat’s 500th match. Virat is the inspiration of many players in the team, he also inspires the youth in the country and the world with his game. His statistics and performance speak volumes for his game.” In the third session, India scored 106 runs without losing a wicket in 33.2 overs. India scored 288 runs for 4 wickets. Virat Kohli is unbeaten at 87 and Jadeja at 36. The former India skipper will definitely try to capitalize and score his 76th International hundred.
