India will play their opening fixture of the Asia Cup against arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2 in Kandy, Sri Lanka. The Chairman of Selectors, Ajit Agarkar and the Men in Blue skipper, Rohit Sharma, announced the 18-member squad for the Asia Cup 2023 in the press conference on Monday, August 21, in Delhi.

Asia Cup 2023 squad for team India: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Siraj, Mohammad Shami, Ishan Kishan, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Prasidh Krishna, and Sanju Samson (back-up)

Let’s look at India’s top three advantages in Asia Cup 2023:

3. Strong Bowling Lineup:

Team India has the strongest bowling lineup in the 16th edition of the Asia Cup. The star India bowler Jasprit Bumrah recovered from his back injury and is leading the Men in Blue in the T20I series against Ireland. In the Ireland series, the 29-year-old pacer became the first Indian captain to win the Player of the Match award on captaincy debut in the shortest format of international cricket.

Bumrah will lead India’s bowling line-up and experienced players like Mohammad Shami and Mohammad Siraj will bowl along with him. All these three pacers can take wickets in the powerplay as well as in the death overs. Except for these three, the Blues also have a brilliant spin attack, which includes the likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel, who can take wickets in the middle overs.
