Veteran Pakistani batter Umar Akmal recalled his tough time as he was suspended back in 2020 for breaching the Pakistan Board anti-corruption code of conduct. Akmal came on air for a TV show, where he talked about the hard times he and his family members faced. He also showcased his singing talent on the show. 

It is pertinent to mention that the wicketkeeper batter played his last international game in 2019. However, Umar still has the zeal to play for his country and is trying hard to cope with the situation. The right-handed batter started his career in 2009 for the Pakistan cricket team, his elder brother Kamran Akmal and younger brother Adnan Akmal have represented the Men in Green.

“No one, not even my enemies, should have to face that the time that I did. Allah tests a person by giving or taking something. However, when I was going through a bad phase, a lot of people revealed their true colours and left my side. But I am thankful to those who still stand beside me,” Akmal said in the Pakistani channel as quoted by GeoNews. 

“I could not send my daughter to school for eight months and my wife did not let me down during these tough days,” he recalled, saying that he gets tears in his eyes whenever he thinks about those days. “My wife was born with a golden spoon but she told me that she will always be supportive of me no matter how bad the situation gets and I am thankful to her for that,” he further added.

For Pakistan, he played 121 ODIs in which he scored an average close to 34 in which he had two hundred, and played 84 T20Is in which he made 1690 runs, Anyway, he didn’t get many chances in Test matches as he got a chance in 16 games. In the end Umar last featured in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023, where he played for the Quetta Gladiators in the eighth edition of PSL.
