Indian cricket team players, after their 10-wicket win against Nepal in Asia Cup 2023, honoured the Nepal cricketers in the dressing room at Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy. Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and head coach Rahul Dravid awarded medals to three Nepalese players, while coach Monty Desai also spoke words for his players. A video is going viral in which Indian players can be seen honouring players from their neighbouring country.
The Nepalese coach Desai asked for the first medal to be presented to Sompal Kami for his innings of 48 (56) including two sixes and one four, Sompal medal was presented by all-rounder and vice-captain of the squad Pandya. Then came Kohli, who presented the second one to opener Aasif Sheikh, who top-scored for Nepal with his 58 (97).

Finally, former Indian cricketer Dravid presented one medal to Dipendra Singh Airee, whom Desai described as the one who brought energy in the second innings with his fielding effort.

Speaking of the game, the Rohit Sharma-led side won the toss and opted to field first. The Rohit Paudel-led side batted first and was dismissed on the 230-run mark. Although they had a good start with the 65-run opening stand, but after Kushal Bhurtel was dismissed for 38 (25), the batters started crumbling, and half of the side was in the pavilion till the 30th over on 132. Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Siraj were the highest wicket-takers in the squad, with three wickets each.
While in the chase, India started the innings, but it was soon halted by the rain. Later on, as per the DLS method, the Men in Blue required 145 runs to chase down the target. Sharma and Shubman Gill together added 147 runs for the opening side and took their side to the win. Now the Indian side, after this win, has reached the Super 4 of the continental championship and will face Pakistan on September 10 in Colombo for the knockout fixture.
